Erasmus+ Staff Teaching Mobility ERASMUS+ STAFF TEACHING MOBILITY

Erasmus+ staff teaching mobility is an activity area that allows staff members obligated to teach at an ECHE (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) accredited higher education institution in Turkey to teach students at an ECHE accredited higher education institution in one of the countries covered by the Erasmus+ program for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 2 months, and to conduct academic/educational activities jointly with the host institution. Mobility should include teaching activities of at least 8 hours.

The main purposes of staff teaching mobility are:

(a) To provide students who cannot participate in the mobility program with the opportunity to benefit from the knowledge and experience of academic staff from different European countries,

(b) To promote expertise and experience exchange in pedagogical methods,

(c) To encourage higher education institutions to expand and enrich the variety and content of the courses they offer.

Within the scope of staff teaching mobility, staff members from Turkish higher education institutions can be sent to ECHE accredited higher education institutions in Europe under inter-institutional agreements.

Conditions for Participating in Teaching Mobility

  • Being at least a part-time faculty member at an ECHE accredited higher education institution,
  • Having an inter-institutional agreement between the sending and receiving higher education institutions for staff teaching mobility,
  • Having an approved teaching program by both the sending and receiving higher education institutions (The teaching program must be signed by the parties and should at least include the general objectives/targets, content, and expected outcomes of the program.)

“In order to benefit from Erasmus+ mobilities, every participant must take part in the selection process, and evaluations must be carried out for all applicants based on the same criteria within the framework of equality and transparency. No one who does not participate in the selection process may benefit from these activities

NOTE: In staff mobilities, within the framework of national priorities, it is envisaged that each type of activity may be undertaken at most once within the same contract period, in order to enable a greater number of staff to benefit from the activities.

NOTE: To be eligible for grant after the teaching mobility, it is necessary to teach a minimum of 8 teaching hours at the receiving higher education institution. The activity area that enables academic staff obligated to teach at ECHE accredited higher education institutions and staff working in businesses to teach at ECHE accredited higher education institutions is within the framework of our bilateral agreements. The exchange capacities resulting from our bilateral agreements are announced on our website. Mobility can only be realized at higher education institutions with which we have mutual agreements. The duration of the activity is a minimum of 2 days and 8 teaching hours.

Applications will be made online to the Erasmus Office on the dates specified in the announcement.

Within the scope of staff teaching/training activities, the activities are calculated on a daily basis, and grant payments are made for the days on which teaching/training is carried out.”

Travel Grant Support Calculations

To contribute to students' travel expenses, the distance in kilometers between the starting point of the mobility and the location of the activity should be determined using the distance calculator provided by the European Commission. The travel grant should then be calculated using the table below. The kilometer value obtained from the distance calculator corresponds to the round-trip grant amount in the table below, and this amount is not multiplied by two.

Green travel refers to traveling using low-carbon emission public transportation. Bus, train, and shared car usage are included in green travel. To be eligible for green travel support, green travel methods must be used for both the outward and return journeys, and more than half of the entire trip must be completed using green transportation options.

If necessary, individual support grants may be provided for travel days, up to a maximum of two days, or up to a maximum of six days if green travel is used, for the travel period before and after the activity.

Green Travel (Valid only for the 2024-2025 academic year)

Green travel is the use of low-carbon public transportation. Bus, train, and carpooling are all included in green travel. To receive green travel support, green travel must be used both on the outbound and return journeys, and more than half of the journey must be made using green vehicles. For example, an employee working in Amsterdam must use green vehicles for more than half of the round-trip travel time from Istanbul to Amsterdam. They can fly to Bulgaria, travel the rest of the way by train, bus, shared car, etc., and return to Bulgaria using these vehicles before flying from Bulgaria to Türkiye.

The personnel must submit their outbound and return bus/train tickets/flight information showing their mode of transportation to the Erasmus+ Programme Unit.

Green Travel (valid between the 2021-2024 academic years)

Employees who choose to travel green will receive a one-time green travel support of €50. Additionally, if necessary, a personal support grant for the number of travel days, up to a maximum of four days, will be provided.

Green travel is the use of low-carbon public transportation. Buses, trains, and shared cars are all included in the scope of green travel. To receive green travel support, green travel must be used both on the outbound and return journeys, and more than half of the entire trip must be made using green vehicles. Text in italics is valid for the 2023-2024 academic year.

For example, if a staff member traveling to Germany will travel for two full days, they will receive an initial grant of €50, followed by an additional €40. Germany's monthly grant is €600. The daily grant is calculated as €600/30=€20. In total, the staff member will receive €90 in Green Travel Support.
