Green Travel Policy

Green Travel (Valid only for the 2024–2025 Academic Year)

Green travel refers to traveling by using low-carbon public transportation vehicles. Travel by bus, train, or carpooling is considered within the scope of green travel.

To be eligible for green travel support, students must use green travel both for the outbound and return journeys, and more than half of the total travel distance must be completed using green transportation.

Example: A student going to Amsterdam from Istanbul must cover more than half of the total round-trip distance using green transportation vehicles. The student may fly to Bulgaria and then continue the rest of the journey to Amsterdam by train, bus, or carpooling, and on the return trip follow the same method, traveling back to Bulgaria using green transportation and then flying to Türkiye.

Students are required to submit bus/train tickets or flight details to the Erasmus+ Office in order to document the modes of travel used for both the outbound and return journeys.

Green Travel (Valid between the 2021–2024 Academic Years)

Students who choose green travel are provided with a one-time 50 EUR Green Travel Grant. In addition, when necessary, students may also receive up to four days of individual support grant based on the travel duration.

Italicized parts are valid for the 2023–2024 academic year.

Example: If a student traveling to Germany spends two full days on the journey, they will first receive an additional 50 EUR plus 40 EUR for the two travel days. Since the monthly grant for Germany is 600 EUR, the daily grant is calculated as 600/30 = 20 EUR. In total, the student will receive 90 EUR Green Travel Support.

Important Note

Once you plan your green travel, please send the relevant documents for approval to erasmus@ostimteknik.edu.tr if you are an Erasmus learning mobility student.

Note: Green Travel Support is only provided to students who are already eligible for an Erasmus+ grant.
